IF YOU ARE IN AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP AND THERE IS A CHANCE YOUR ABUSER MAY CHECK YOUR INTERNET USAGE, PLEASE CONSIDER THIS BEFORE PROCEEDING.

You may be safer using a library or friend's computer!!

Or check the Helpful Links Page for information on hiding internet usage.

Abuse in any form is NEVER God's design for relationships.

That is why we believe that all abuse
- child abuse, dating abuse, spousal abuse and elder abuse -
must STOP!

Reminder: Abuse does not take a holiday! There is never a day off!

What is your place of worship doing to bring awareness to the issues?
We invite you to encourage them to speak out about domestic abuse. There are many ways to do that, through a sermon, maybe an announcement, maybe a special speaker, maybe a special offering...

One way to let others know is to wear a

purple ribbon for
DOMESTIC ABUSE AWARENESS
or a
blue ribbon for
                                      CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS

Others will ask you what it is for and you have an opportunity to let them know.

When the Light of Christ is brought into the darkness, the darkness cannot prevail. So let His light shine in the dark places.
Speak up, speak out and save a life!

How can a person who loves God be in so much fear?

Because domestic abuse can happen to anyone,
even Christians - whether adults, children, teens or elderly.

1 in 4 women and 1 in 14 males will experience intimate relationship abuse in their lifetime.

1 in 3 teens and young adults will experience abuse in a dating relationship.

28% of marriages contain physical violence.

50% of marriages experience some form of abuse.

                    with regards to child abuse....

1 in 3 females and 1 in 5 males will experience abuse in their lifetime.

                  with regards to elder abuse....

over 2.1 million American elderly suffer abuse and neglect each year.

Abuse is an issue that faces us all....

Have pity on me, 0 God, for I am in distress with sorrow my eye is consumed; my soul also, and my body. I am like a dish that is broken... But my trust is in you, 0 God; I say, 'YOU are my God'".

Ps 31:10,14

Relationship Abuse is NOT...

an issue of anger or loss of control, it is about establishing control! One person trying to control the life of another person, and the person being victimized is often told it is for their own good, but abuse is never good. It may consist of repeated, severe beatings, but often it consists of more subtle forms of abuse, including verbal abuse, threats and controlling behaviors.

It is not "marital conflict," "mutual abuse," "a lovers' quarrel," "child discipline" or "a private family matter."

It is a CRIME
and it is OUR concern!

No one needs to suffer in silence.
You are not alone.

The Lord is a
refuge for the oppressed,
a stronghold in
times of trouble. Psalm 9:9
